Infra Update: DigitalOcean

Just a quick announcement regarding website infrastructure. :)

As of today, the blog has been moved from my local K3S cluster to a droplet hosted on DigitalOcean.

After carefully considering some new security concerns and also finally getting fed up with my control plane RPi crashing all the time, I decided to move the website to a platform with better security and reliability. I promise from now on the website uptime will be greater than fifty percent. Yay.

...That's a made up stat, I haven't been keeping track of uptime at all. But it's probably close.

I know this decision may seem a bit weird considering I'm such a k8s enthusiast in many of my posts. I still am, but I've made the decision that I'd prefer the cluster to be used as a less secure sandbox and for hosting internal tools only. Hosting a public facing website off of my cluster while simultaneously hosting internal tools that access my NAS... After a while, the idea just gave me the sysadmin heebie jeebies. Ghost on K8S was an awesome starting point that allowed me to prototype easily, but this new config helps me sleep better at night.

New posts soon, I promise.

EDIT @ 6/5 01:37 AM - We have uptime monitoring now! I'll try to stay on top of this site more now that I have time. For now, sleep.
